Topic: Loss of Independence

Loss of independence on any level is tough for anyone. It came as a shock to me during a time in my life when I was preparing and training to run a 10K. I had so many friends visit and spend time with me during my recovery. They fed me, waited on me, and did things for me that no one ever wants to need help with. The right side of my body was useless to me, and I had no choice. No one was more comforting to me than my friend Retha. The time and insight she selflessly gave me as I recovered from my injuries came from the depths of a heart that has experienced more than our family will ever get to learn about. But the experiences that she has had throughout her life aren’t what we love about her. It’s how she pulls from them to serve and lift her corner of the world. We are so privileged to be both witnesses and recipients of her wisdom and care.
