Title: Growing Lovely

Topic: Small, Daily Moments of Life

Time can seem like the enemy as it tries to steal away the promise of future precious moments. But I have come to realize that Time has been a friend to me. I was given time to know and love my grandparents. Watching how they lived, what they chose, and their eternal outlook on their future and mine has been one of the greatest gifts that Time has ever given me. I have watched them “grow lovely, growing old" with hope at every stage, from busy, noisy moments to quiet rooms packed with memories. I will always remember my grandparents as people who treasured the most important things that they had, and I am forever changed to have realized over time that I am one of those things.

Growing Lovely

(Lyrics)

VERSE 1

What is time to me and you?

What is time about to do?

Losing time but never told,

"be careful growing old,

it gets away from you."

Waiting patiently to find,

A place where you can rest your mind.

A place where you can be set free,

A place you only dreamed,

But never thought you'd find.

CHORUS

All the precious things you’re told come with,

Growing lovely growing old.

Treasures kept and never sold,

None are silver, none are gold.

And holding tight to letting go,

Your faith is stronger than you know or see,

And you showed me,

what that means.

VERSE 2

Little fingers tiny toes,

Tired eyes but they all know,

A moment goes too fast,

A second ‘til it's passed,

And they've all up and grown.

Smiling happy smiling sad.

They won't forget when they look back,

The memories you collect,

And gather in your head,

Are coming as they go.

CHORUS

All the precious things you’re told come with,

Growing lovely growing old.

Treasures kept and never sold,

None are silver, none are gold.

And holding tight to letting go,

Your faith is stronger than you know or see,

And you showed me,

what that means.

BRIDGE

Photographs in frames remind us,

Time flies when you're living.

And life’s too short to waste away,

So don't look at what you can't change.

The future’s bright when your eyes lock on

Seeing how much farther you can go.

So go.

VERSE 3

Looking back on time well spent.

The days they come, the days they went.

If you saw then what you see now,

You wouldn't question how,

How I see,

You grew lovely.
